ABOUT ELLEN

Connect Today!

Ellen Connell is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has been working in the rehabilitation community in BC since 1987. She completed her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Her thesis explored the experience of brain injury and how direct and indirect survivors make sense of their trauma and then move on from their injury to create a meaningful and satisfying life.

Ellen has developed several advances in the field of rehabilitation counselling (such as pain management, communication and assertiveness skills, group psychotherapy) for individuals affected by catastrophic injuries. Over time, Ellen has acquired specific expertise in working with individuals affected by physical, psychological and relational trauma. A believer in integrating the mind, brain, and body in the treatment of trauma, she is a board certified neurotherapist as well as a Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive yoga facilitator.

She is a Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor and offers support with the wide range of psychological, social, educational and vocational issues faced by individuals living with a physical and/or psychological disability. Ellen is a Fellow of the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. She provides Neurotherapy as an adjunct to talk therapy in her work with trauma survivors.

In addition to her work with those affected by complex trauma and catastrophic injuries, Ellen provides treatment for individuals, couples and families struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, adjustment, grief and loss. Working with Ellen, clients can access talk therapy, neurotherapy, and/or somatic, yoga based therapy.

As a professional with over thirty years of clinical experience, Ellen is pleased to offer supervision/mentorship to both students completing a graduate degree and clinicians wanting to continue their professional development, specifically in the areas of trauma, rehabilitation, and adjustment.
